Garden

Friends of Guirgho believes that the most empowering asset of a community is its ability to achieve food self-sufficiency. Access to nutrition and the knowledge to sustain it are essential for personal independence, community resilience, and long-term success. By integrating food security into our educational initiatives, we aim to equip students with the tools, resources, and confidence to cultivate a self-sufficient future, one that strengthens both individuals and the communities they serve.

Teachers initially used the garden as a green classroom.

The drip irrigation system allows the school to grow string beans, papayas, bananas, peppers, lettuce, cabbage and local leaves used for sauces.
